Commonwealth Seniors Health Card Application Online; The Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC) is an Australian Government initiative that provides eligible senior Australians with access to certain health care concessions, including cheaper prescription medicines, lower medical expenses, and access to the Medicare Safety Net.
To be eligible for a CSHC, you must:
- Be of Age Pension age (currently 66 years old or older)
- Not be receiving an Age Pension or any other pension from the Australian Government
- Meet an income test and an assets test (which are both less stringent than the tests for the Age Pension)
To apply for a CSHC, you can do so online through the Services Australia website or by calling the Services Australia Customer Service line. Once you have been approved for a CSHC, it is valid for one year and can be renewed annually if you continue to meet the eligibility criteria.

Steps on how to apply for a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card online
Step 01; Visit the Services Australia website: https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/
Step 02; Click on the ‘Centrelink’ tab at the top of the page.
Step 03; Select ‘Payments and Services’ from the dropdown menu.
Step 04; Scroll down and click on ‘Commonwealth Seniors Health Card’.
Step 05; Select ‘Apply’ and follow the prompts to create a Centrelink online account or log in to an existing one.
Step 06; Once logged in, follow the steps to complete the application form.
Step 07; Submit the application and wait for a response from Services Australia.
Alternatively, you can call the Services Australia Customer Service line at 132 300 and apply over the phone, or complete a paper application form and mail it to the address listed on the form.
